It consists in fitting out a<br \/>\nsample of voluntary fishing vessels with sensors\u00a0recording data on fishing effort (and at mid-terms catches) and physical parameters such as\u00a0temperature or salinity. Recopesca aims at setting up\u00a0a network of sensors, for\u00a0scientific purposes, to\u00a0collect data allowing improving\u00a0resources assessment and diagnostics\u00a0on fisheries, and environmental\u00a0data required for ecosystem-based management initiatives.\u00a0The challenge was to develop sensors with no trouble for the fishermen, tough enough to be fixed up\u00a0on fishing gears, self powered and autonomous. Insofar as the sample of targeted vessels intends to\u00a0be representative of all the metiers and fleets, the sensors are modular and scalable to collect new\u00a0data.<br \/>\nDifferent sensors have been implemented: (i) a temperature-salinity sensor, able to record physical\u00a0parameters, depth and duration of immersion, for passive and active gears, and (ii) a specific sensor\u00a0to record number or length of passive gears. A GPS\u00a0monitors the position of the vessels. Each sensor\u00a0is equipped with a radio device transferring the data\u00a0to a receiver on-board, called \u201cconcentrator\u201d that\u00a0sends the data to Ifremer central databases by\u00a0GPRS. An anti-rolling weigh-scale is currently on\u00a0development to record catches per species and fishing operation. A team of 20 observers executed a scientific catches sampling on the coastal fishing between Dunkerque and\u00a0 La Cotini\u00e8re and on board of trawlers and offshore longliners fishing in the Celtic Sea, Northern Irzeland and West Scotland. The sampling plan incluedes more than 2 000 days of observation at sea per year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Euronor takes an active part in this program by boarding all year observers\u00a0 aboard his 4 fresh fishing trawlers. The goal is to produce structures in size of landings of main commercial species for the stock assessment puposes by the Regional Organizations of Fisheries Management &#8211; ORGP &#8211; and other relevant international scientific bodies, like the CIEM,\u00a0 in accordance with the international obligations of the Community and its Member States (settlement CE N\u00b0199\/2008, article 20).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Euronor regulary welcomes Oc\u00e9anic D\u00e9veloppement&#8217;s team of technicians during the fish delivery to make series of measurements on predefined samples.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"dfd-spacer-module\"  data-units=\"px\" data-wide_resolution=\"1280\" data-wide_size=\"40\" data-normal_resolution=\"1024\" data-normal_size=\"40\" data-tablet_resolution=\"800\" data-tablet_size=\"40\" data-mobile_resolution=\"480\" data-mobile_size=\"40\" style=\"height: 40px;\"><\/div>[vc_single_image image=&#8221;19136&#8243;
