Skipper or captain<\/h2>\n

The skipper : Il est le responsable du chalutier. He has many roles, he must be a manager, indeed he’s the hierarchical responsible of all the seamen. His manneer to manage is team is esssential to the succcess of the fishing. He is the production manager and as such he is responsible of the product quality, offshore production and packing. He is responsible of the fishing. To do that, he operates the trawler from the bridge, he determined the vessel’s position and controlled the trawl. It requires technical competences (electronic on board, software, fishing technics…) also knowledges (about the fishing area, sea reliefs…) and he must have the respect of his crew.<\/p>\n

The second<\/h2>\n

He is the second in commande, his main\u00a0 missions his to controle the weather conditions, to handle the radio communication and to update the fishing maps. The lieutenant<\/h2>\n

As the second, he applies the skipper’s directives. He may be called to substitute the sdecond. The lieutnant watches overs over the safety of the equipment on deck to make sure that they comply with regulations and are safe to use.<\/p>\n
